At an official ceremony held in the Educational and Olympic Center of the National Sports Academy, thirty-eight students received certificates from the Rector of the National Sports Academy, Prof. Krasimir Petkov, for participation in pilot training as part of the joint Master’s program „Sports and Stage Performances“. The joint program is at the center of the project „Sport in Art“, which unites the efforts of three universities – the National Sports Academy, Bulgaria, the University of Leon, Spain and the Charles University, as well as the French organization Cultures du Monde, actively working in the field of the entertainment industry. The idea and development of the project were presented by Prof. Kiril Andonov, project manager – „It is to overcome the challenges of creating an academic joint program by three European academic institutions, to create an opportunity for international students to acquire a new qualification for the needs of the world’s performing arts through an extremely rich European experience.“
For four months in 2024/2025, NSA students participated in training recorded in front of a camera in the academic disciplines that the Academy undertook to develop and test – Production and Management of Sports and Stage Performances, Technical Means of Sports and Stage Performances, Music Design and Dramaturgy, Screenwriting, Creative and Directing Activities. After completing the courses, the students were provided with video recordings from the partner universities, which they were introduced to in order to gain impressions of the overall program. The pilot implementation of the program showed full compatibility of the work with students at all three universities and expectations for a completely smooth transition through a program that is conducted in three European institutions.
Prof. Petkov congratulated the students for their enthusiasm, perseverance and excellent results, emphasizing that it is they who, with their successes, are called upon to show Europe and the countries around the world together with the students of the universities of Prague and Leon what of the youth of our modern world knows and can do.
Prof. Nikolay Izov, under whose leadership as Rector the project was launched in 2023, presented certificates to all lecturers who took part in the teaching, expressing confidence that they will continue to create iconic stage performances that have become a special brand of the National Sports Academy.
